GOLF BADGE FOR JUNIOR GIRL SCOUTS

 

 

Junior Girl Scouts must complete six (6) of the following activities:

 

1.      Learn golfing terminology.  Find out what these terms mean:

Par              Birdie                  Bogie                   Eagle

Handicap    Green                   Fairway               Bunker

 

2.      Learn how to keep score and how to use a scoreboard.  Are there penalties for the ball landing off course?

 

3.      Tour a golf course and visit the pro shop.

 

4.      Learn how to be fitted for golf clubs and how to hold and swing the clubs.  Learn the names and uses of the different types of clubs.

 

5.      Interview a female golf pro.  What does she like about her job?

OR

     Read about a famous female golf pro and prepare a short biography.

 

6.      Play a short round of golf, at least 3 to 6 holes.

 

7.      Practice using the putting greens.

 

8.      Learn about golf shoes.  Visit a sporting goods store, look through catalogs, or go online to sites that sell shoes.

 

9.      What professional organizations are there in golf?  How do you become a member?

 

10.  Read at least 3 articles about golfing.  These could be from newspapers, from golf magazines, or online.   Be able to describe how these articles were the same and how they were different.
